Amtgard is a non-profit, non-sectarian group devoted to the recreation of events of the medieval-fantasy genre. We are, in short, a LARP group, or Live Action Role-Playing group.
How does this LARP work?
Amtgard uses safe weapons made from a core material (plastic, PVC,bamboo, graphite, etc.) covered with open cell foam, commonly found inPool Noodle. There are battle games held with these weapons.
Also, there is a non-combatant roleplaying element involvedwith this game. Every player is asked to develop their own persona toplay at every meeting.
What is "The Shire of Ravenwing", exactly?
We are a branch of Amtgard located in the city of Brantford, inthe province of Ontario. At regular meetings, we have between 5 and 20people, which designates us with the title "Shire" in terms of size.
Where does this particular group meet?
We have our meetings every week on Sundays from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Mohawk Park, Brantford, Ontario, near the pavilions.
What can I expect at a meeting?
In a typical meeting, we have several battle games that testfighting prowess and a small roleplaying session for characterdevelopment.
